INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR 15 WATT AND 23 WATT DIMMABLE SPIRAL COMPACT FLUORESCENT LAMPS
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
-
Use only with an approved or updated dimmer. Also, manual dimmers made prior to 1996 cannot be used. The list of approved controls is available on the web site www.aglights.com or from your distributor.
-
It is advisable to burn in the lamps at full output for at least 24 hours before dimming. This will help to produce the best dimming performance.
-
Fixture sockets into which lamps will be installed should not be corroded or dirt encrusted. These conditions cause high electrical resistance and could affect lamp performance. It is critical that the screw shells in these fixtures be made of nickel plated brass or copper. Aluminum screw shells should never be used in poultry houses because the ammonia gas created from the bird waste will react to cause corrosion. This is a major reason that compact fluorescent lamps, which have electronic circuitry, fail prematurely.
-
Fixture sockets should be free of moisture when lamps are turned on. If not, electrical arcing could occur, and this could cause lamps to fail.
-
Lamps should be installed in fixtures on a dedicated circuit. This is to prevent voltage drops caused by other equipment powered from the same electric circuit that would affect the operating stability of the lamps. All lamps on this dimming circuit should be the same wattage and make. (A 100 watt incandescent lamp can be used in the dimming circuit, at times, to help with control at the lower dimming end.)
-
Do not dim the lamps below the Suggested Lowest dimmer setting, which can be found on our www.aglights.com website under the Dimmer testing evaluations.
-
Should any flickering occur at start-up or in the dimming sequence, notify your distributor as this will cause premature failures.
-
When using the new Retrolite 2L adapter in the brood section, the non dimmable lamp must always be turned off prior to dimming the remaining dimmable lamps.
